Statistical research areas include the design and analysis of clinical trials with an emphasis on trials carried out in a regulatory environment; repeated measurements analysis; nonparametric analysis of covariance; survey data analysis. Research projects are in the areas of pulmonary disease, cardiovascular disease, and mental health disorders.

Director of the Collaborative Studies Coordinating Center (CSCC)in the Department of Biostatistics. The CSCC was established in 1971 and has been funded continuously since then. The center currently consists of 80 faculty, staff, and students conducting coordinating center projects for multi-center clinical trials and epidmiological studies.
