Welcome to the Appointments, Promotion, and Tenure (APT) Committee site administered through the Academic Affairs in the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. Academic Affairs is committed to the pursuit of excellence in all of the school's academic activities. To accomplish this end, the school needs a cadre of individuals, irrespective of gender, race, or ethnicity, who are dedicated to creative and innovative approaches to education. While we are committed to attracting individuals who can achieve just that, Academic Affairs has been entrusted with facilitating their professional growth. Standards for the Appointments, Promotions, and Tenure process at UNC-Chapel Hill are governed by the Trustee Policies and Regulations Governing Academic Tenure in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, in addition to the School's Appointments, Promotion, and Tenure Manual. The APT Committee meets regularly, on a monthly basis, to review appointment, reappointment or promotion actions within the School that meet the criteria necessitating an assessment, as outlined in the APT Manual. Members of the APT Committee represent various academic disciplines within the School and are appointed by the dean for three-year terms. The APT Committee serves an important role by advising the dean on appointments and promotions, thereby setting the standards for the quality of academic productivity among the faculty. This, in turn, strongly affects the reputation of the School. We hope that you will find the following links to be helpful resources: |
