Call for Nominations We are now accepting nominations for the Harriet Hylton Barr Distinguished Alumni Award and the Bernard Greenberg Alumni Endowment Award for 2009. The nominations are due by February 13, 2009. The Harriet Hylton Barr Distinguished Alumni AwardThe award honors alumni from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health who demonstrated qualities of commitment and service to public health through achievements in leadership, innovation, experimentation and collaboration; impact within the nominee's practice arena; and outstanding service beyond the requirements of the nominee's employment. The Bernard G. Greenberg Alumni Endowment Award
The award will be presented to "an outstanding full-time faculty member of the School of Public Health for excellence in the areas of teaching, research and service." A major criterion for the award is continuous demonstrated excellence over a number of years in service to the broad public health community. The award is intended for an established faculty member as an incentive for continued excellence in these three areas. The award includes a plaque and cash prize of $12,000 annually for three years, which can be used by the recipient to support his/her professional activities.
