October 12-15, 2009 Including a Festschrift to Honor Professor Gary Koch Highlights | Hotel Information | Directions and Parking | Sponsorship | Shirts Available | Registration The Department of Biostatistics is delighted to invite alumni and friends to Chapel Hill for a celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Department of Biostatistics at UNC, to be preceded by a Festschrift to be held in honor of the work of Professor Gary Koch. ![]() Dr. Bernie Greenberg, founder of the department and Dean of the School of Public Health Beginning the afternoon of Monday, October 12, and ending at lunch time the following day, we will celebrate Professor Koch's exceptional contributions through a series of lectures and reminiscences, with a warm-hearted dinner tribute that evening, and a hot breakfast Tuesday morning. Continuing with lunch on Tuesday, October 13, and ending with a luncheon on Thursday, October 15, we will observe the Department's anniversary with an exciting program of lectures on cutting-edge developments in theory and applications, updates on the current status and future of our undergraduate and graduate training programs, and reflections on the impact our department has made on the field of biostatistics as well as on public health and medicine broadly. On Wednesday, October 14, a breakfast will honor Professor Larry Kupper, and our banquet celebration of the 60th anniversary of the department will feature a keynote address by Dr. Jim Grizzle highlighting the history and successes of the department.
