Biostatistics

![]() As one of the leading biostatistics departments in the nation, we prepare
students to apply quantitative skills to a wide variety of fields related to
human health. We achieve this goal through classroom instruction in statistical
theory and through innovative practical training opportunities at UNC and
beyond. The success of the program is evident through its large and loyal alumni
base, who currently occupy important positions in pharmaceutical companies,
academic institutions, biotech firms, and government agencies.
The Department of Biostatistics welcomes the Fall 2011 incoming class. Of the 57 new students, 12 are enrolled in the BSPH undergraduate program, 25 in the PhD program, 3 in the DRPH program, 12 in the MS program and 5 in the MPH program.
The Biostatistics Student Association is a student run organization for all
undergraduate and graduate students in the Department of Biostatistics in the
School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. We
seek to encourage interaction outside of the classroom through volunteer,
social, and educational activities and create a stronger community within the
Biostatistics department and the School of Public Health.
