Her work at UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health has "fulfilled and surpassed" her expectations, she says, and she has enjoyed the feeling of being continuously challenged by people who expect and help her to succeed.

"My adviser, Dr. Barry Popkin, is the clearest example of that," she says. "I'm really thankful to him for his support and honest guidance. To me every course, assignment, exam, oral presentation and scientific paper is a challenge. It is an opportunity to surprise myself about the things I'm able to accomplish, or an opportunity to learn about my weaknesses and continue working. Regardless of the result, the feeling of constantly making an effort is highly motivating. The fun part is to share this experience with my classmates; helping and learning from each other is truly a big plus."
