The UNC Nutrition Obesity Research Center (NORC) is one of 12 centers in the country funded by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases that is specifically designed to provide support and expertise to scientists studying the role of nutrition and obesity in public health. Since our inception in 1999, we have facilitated the development and transfer of cutting-edge research from the laboratory to the general public.

 

The goals of the UNC NORC are:

• To provide resources and support to investigators conducting multidisciplinary research in nutrition and obesity

• To enhance the impact and presence of nutrition and obesity research at UNC

• To strengthen clinical nutrition training programs for medical students and practicing physicians

• To translate findings from obesity and nutrition research to the general public to use to improve their overall health
