Research Interests
Dr. Arcury’s research program lies in the areas
of rural and minority health, rural and minority aging, and occupational and
environmental health. Specific research
interests include (1) the occupational
and environmental health of farmworkers and poultry processing workers, and (2) the prevention and self-management of chronic
disease among older adults living in rural communities. Current projects focus on skin disease among
farmworkers, pesticide exposure among farmworkers, occupational injury
prevention among poultry workers, prostate and colorectal cancer screening
among African American and White men, diabetes self-management among rural
older adults, oral health of rural older adults, and the use of complementary
medicine of rural older adults.
