Centers, Institutes and Affiliates Print

The School of Public Health values and participates in interdisciplinary research, education and service through the activities of its many centers, institutes, programs and specialized facilities.  The School also has a long history of affiliation with many other UNC entities.  Some of our faculty and researchers have dual appointments with UNC centers and institutes.  Or we might collaborate on research or share resources or data to build upon our collective public health knowledge.

Nutrition Research Institute: The Nutrition Research Institute (NRI) is a part of the School of Public Health. Located on the new North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis, NC (15 mi from Charlotte), NRI uses cutting edge new methods in nutrigenomics and metabolomics to understand why we are metabolically different and how this affects health and nutrition recommendations.

Office of Global Health:  Our Office of Global Health, based in our dean's office, actively supports our faculty, staff, and students in their efforts to improve the health of the world's populations.  The Office is the organizing unit for the School's global health activities, which are integrated into each department in the School.  This integration makes interdisciplinary global health research, teaching and practice easier to accomplish and more effective.

Our academic departments also host a number of centers, programs and specialized facilities.  For example:

The School is affiliated with many centers, institutes, programs and facilities across campus, either through leadership, funding or collaboration.
