Research Interests
Recent research in HIV has focused on determining the effectiveness of an adaptation of Jeffery Kelley’s Popular Opinion Leader model as a strategy for reducing risky sexual behavior among male students at a historically black university and on identifying strategies to encourage black college-aged men who have sex with men to get tested for HIV and to help those who test positive get into and remain in HIV care.  Recent research in tobacco has focused on developing an experiential model of teaching health policy advocacy that involves students in planning and implementing an initiative to alter tobacco policy on the university campus.
