Leadership certificate (PHLC) The Public Health Leadership Certificate is an 11-credit hour program of study. The content is the same as the core content taught in PHLP’s MPH programs. All courses have been specially designed and developed for delivery via distance learning. Students will be able to register, receive materials, interact with faculty, order books and successfully complete this program while only traveling to campus once. A connection to the Internet is all that is required! The application deadline for Spring 2009 is February 1, 2009. We do not accept applications for the program
year round and will admit students for summer semester as space is available. Go to Public Health Leadership Certificate Occupational Health Nursing CertificateThe Occupational Health Nursing Certificate is an academic program of study. Students take 11- 12 credits in coursework that has been specially developed for distance education. All credits earned are completely transferable as part of the requirements for the completion of the OHN Concentration MPH degree. Students will be able to register, receive materials, interact with faculty, order books, and successfully complete this program while only traveling to campus once. A connection to the Internet is all that is required! The application deadline for Summer Session II is April 30, 2007. Please note there are limited spaces available in the program. Applying early will provide a better opportunity for admission. Partial tuition assistance available. Program Coordinator, Judy Ostendorf The MPH is offered in three concentration areas: Leadership (which includes focus areas in Field Epidemiology, Public Health Nursing, Public Health Practice, and Program Development); Health Care and Prevention; and Occupational Health Nursing. The MPH in all concentration areas is available in both distance and residential formats, with the exception of Health Care and Prevention, which is offered only on campus. In accordance with new guidelines from the Council on Education for Public Health, the Program requires a minimum of 42 credits for completion. Public health nurses who enroll in the public health leadership program have the unique opportunity to concentrate on issues of importance to public health nursing through coursework, the master’s paper and field practicum. The Occupational Health Nursing concentration and the Public Health Nursing focus area are accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), 61 Broadway--33rd Floor, New York, NY 10006; 800-669-1656, ext. 153.
Health Care and Prevention Occupational Health Nursing Masters Program Director, David Steffen, DrPH Master of Science (Residential)The Master of Science (MS) degree is offered in Public Health Nursing fields of study in Public Health Nursing and Occupational Health Nursing. The residential/on-campus program of study prepares graduates in program planning and evaluation, with emphasis on the development of research skills as beginning researchers. Two years of full-time study is required for the MS student. Students have 5 years to complete the program.
