Our School works to improve the public’s health by teaching both the next generation of public health leaders and today’s current practitioners.  To this end, we offer distance education opportunities for working public health professionals, whether they live as close as Chapel Hill or on the other side of the world.

Distance learningOur online degrees and certificates come in a range of formats.  We have several online master’s degrees, and the only online DrPH in Public Health Leadership in the United States. Some require an annual, two-week visit on campus.  Some do not require a campus visit at all.  Some are full-time programs, while others can be completed on a part-time basis.  Our certificate programs generally range from 11 to 15 credits.

We provide our distance learners with top-of-the-line technological resources, accessibility and support.  Our convenient and flexible, yet meaningful, curriculum is evident in the response and popularity of our distance programs—nearly half of current School of Public Health students study from home or work via distance education—and has caused us to be a recognized leader in distance education on campus and throughout the world.
