Diversity

At the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, we are committed to affording our students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to learn and work in an environment that is rich in academic pursuits, research initiatives, philosophical perspectives, and culture. We believe that by cultivating an atmosphere of diversity within the School of Public Health, we better prepare our students for the diverse world that awaits them--a world that seeks culturally competent people to serve as its leaders.

Also, when we embrace the socioeconomic, physical, cultural, racial, and ethnic differences of our students, faculty, and staff, we enrich the quality of coursework, classroom discussions, research, and practice both within the School of Public Health and beyond. In the end, we supply our communities with teachers, researchers and practitioners who are eager to serve with a spirit of cultural sensitivity and respect for others and a commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of people throughout the world.
