New School Nurse Orientation: Roles and Responsibilities Print

New school nurses are urged to attend this orientation workshop to learn from expert school nurse consultants about:

  • Professional legal issues in school health
  • How to successfully transition into the school nurse role and work environment
  • The ins and outs of documentation
  • How to utilize and implement the Prevention Model
  • Receive an overview of the Exceptional Children’s Program and NC Standard of School Nursing Care and Policy

This one and a half day program is designed to help launch new school nurses into successful and rewarding professional practice and provides 10 contact hours of approved continuing education.

Continuing education credit will be provided through Public Health Nursing and Professional Development (PHNPD) in the Department of Health and Human Services. PHNPD is a provider of continuing nursing education by the North Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
