The Dean and Managing Director of Carolina Public Health Solutions (CPHS) established the Acceleration Advisory Committee (AAC) under the auspices that the group would bring a robust set of skills and expertise as well as alternative, unbiased perspective when critically evaluating and advising on the portfolio of CPHS program awards and investment opportunities.
The Committee has no fiduciary responsibilities; those belong to the UNC-CH Public Health Foundation, Inc. and to the School administration.
Selection of AAC members
Members of the AAC are selected based on their deep commitment to the welfare of the School and public health, and on their individual skills and experiences. Some of the talents of particular interest to the School are:
- knowledge of public health and emerging issues in public health
- understanding of the public health imperatives in North Carolina
- appreciation of global public health issues
- demonstrated track records of success in their own endeavors
- excellent vision and judgment
- experience in public and private sectors, including government and foundation experience
- relationships (people and institutions) that would strengthen the School, such as
- science, business, and technology experience to help the School fund a strong portfolio
- connections to alumni
Committee members are selected by the Dean of the School and the Managing Director of CPHS. Recommendations for membership can come from the SPH community and others external to the School. Diversity of committee membership and committee members’ commitment to diversity at the School of Public Health are imperatives.
