Graduation Requirements
Capstone Course
Students must complete the Capstone Course (HPAA 735 – Advanced Concepts and Applications in Health Policy and Management). They must also write and submit a Business Proposal and Business Plan. This meets the requirements of the written comprehensive examination and the master’s paper during the final year of study.
Time Limitation
The Executive Masters Program strongly discourages students from getting “off-track", since the program is designed to be completed following a specific curriculum plan. However, in rare circumstances that prevent a student from meeting the goals of the curriculum plan, the Graduate School allows students to complete all requirements for the degree within five years from the time they first enroll in the program.
Course Transfer Option
Students may transfer up to 6 semester hours (two courses) from other graduate programs – subject to departmental and Graduate School approval.
Students who have completed certificate programs offered by the Health Policy and Management department at UNC (including Disaster Management and Health Care Management) may transfer up to 9 semester hours (three courses). Prior to enrollment, a student must submit a written request to the Program Manager for faculty review and appropriate processing.
