Since its establishment in 1955, the Department of Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina has become a leading international center for epidemiologic research. Epidemiology students take courses in other departments and curricula within the School of Public Health as well as in other divisions.

Our geographic proximity to the UNC Schools of

enhances our opportunities for enrolling excellent students and for providing an academic home for epidemiologists whose primary affiliation is with those other institutions. Thus we have as contributors to our program numerous distinguished adjunct faculty who provide a significant resource to our students and our primary faculty. UNC graduates have distinguished themselves in a wide variety of settings in the United States and internationally, in both public and private sectors.
