Injury Print

UNC Epidemiology, in association with the UNC Injury Prevention Research Center, has a strong history of conducting cutting-edge research in the area of injury control.  The Department has traditionally had a strong emphasis on occupational injury, violence prevention, and sports injury.  However, many diverse areas of injury control are of interest to the faculty and students in the Department.  Students in the Injury Epidemiology Program receive training in how to conduct high-quality epidemiologic research that directly addresses injury prevention. They also learn how to engage with non-epidemiologists (ranging from policy makers to community advocates) to help develop, implement, and evaluate interventions that prevent injuries and violence. Our training program emphasizes the application of epidemiologic study designs and concepts to a wide range of injury topics.
