The University’s Office of Human Resources offers a variety of professional development programs suitable for employees at any stage in their careers.  For example, those needing clerical skills might enroll in the Basic Clerical Skills program, while managers and supervisors can increase their leadership skills in the University Management Development Program.

The University also has several programs to help employees and their families who are pursuing college coursework.

  • The Educational Assistance Program provides assistance to employees who would benefit from specific academic courses.
  • Eligible employees and their dependents can seek financial assistance to obtain an undergraduate degree with the Employee, Spouse, and Dependent Undergraduate Scholarship program.
  • The Tuition Waiver Program lets full-time permanent employees take one UNC class semester without tuition.

Certificate track and personal development programs are also available in topics as diverse as wellness, self-defense, personal finances and choosing child care.
