Capstone Community Partners |
Negotiated capstone deliverables may include (but are not limited to): literature review(s), a community assessment report, a community forum, a program planning document, a grant proposal, policy briefs, intervention materials, campaign development, program development, curricula development, and/or an evaluation report. Each student will spend at least 4-8 hours per week outside of the classroom over the 9-month period working on the capstone deliverables. Results of the capstone projects will be presented at the end of spring semester as part of a Capstone Celebration Day event.
The real-world challenges that teams will experience as they work with their capstone partners to produce the deliverables will be supported by two capstone courses, HBHE 740 (Fall) and HBHE 741 (Spring). HBHE 740 includes modules on engagement/assessment and intervention development/selection/adaptation/implementation. HBHE 741 includes modules on evaluation and sustainability/translation/dissemination. Capstone coursework will review theory, the state of scientific evidence, and will draw on the expertise of a wide range of faculty, doctoral students, adjunct faculty, practitioners, and alumni. We expect this critical learning experience to enhance student skills, support capstone partners, and improve public health. Please view the links below to learn more about the HBHE MPH Capstone: The 2012 HBHE Capstone Proposal Form will be available in December 2011 and posted here.
