Student life
Students are trained to see health as unfolding in complex ecological
systems. They may measure the impact of
individual choices on health, but they also ask questions about how societal
factors, organizational culture, and public policy shape people’s decisions. [more]
Faculty life
Faculty in the Department don’t simply talk about
community. They create it: through the
students they recruit, the research studies they conduct, the classes they
teach, and the opportunities they embrace for intellectual exchange. [more]
Staff life
Staff members in the Department take their cue
from faculty and students. Not only do they make sure everyone’s administrative
needs get met, they actively contribute to the Department’s welcoming

Alumni life
Many alumni go on to hold prominent appointments in a
variety of arenas. They teach and carry out research in university settings; work
with such organizations as Family Health International and Research Triangle
Institute; hold leadership positions within the government sector (NCI, CDC)
and around the world (WHO, CARE); or start up their own non-profits (Senior
