Application procedures

Step 1: Visit the DCRP website to coordinate and organize the application materials.

Step 2: Review application deadlines

  • UNC Graduate School deadline

Though the Department makes admissions decisions, some financial awards are given through the Graduate School. For full consideration for these awards, you must apply by January 1.

  • Departmental deadline

We must receive your application materials by February 15. However, we urge you to apply by January 1 to increase your opportunities for receiving financial aid.

  • Decision dates

Most decisions are made between January 15 and March 15. The Graduate School will mail the official decision letter no later than April 1.

  • Terms for which applications are accepted

You may apply only for fall admission.

  • Financial aid information

Applications with all required materials received by January 1 will receive full consideration for Graduate School fellowships. Applications received after that date will be considered as funds remain available.

For more information on financial aid, please refer to the Office of Scholarships and Student Aid

The School of Public Health and the Department offer financial assistance, guidance, and awards for financing your education as well.

Step 3: Collect application materials and review admission requirements

Step 4: Review special instructions

Please contact Linda Cook, Student Services Manager, at lwcook@email.unc.edu or at (919) 966-5771 if you have problems with the online application.

We encourage prospective students to visit the Department before deciding whether to attend our master's or doctoral programs in Health Behavior and Health Education. Applicant Information Days (October 23, 2006 and April 2, 2007) are the best days to visit because the entire day is planned to make the most of your time here - learning about the department, visiting with faculty, staff and students, touring the campus, etc.

Step 5: Complete application

Applications are processed centrally through the UNC Graduate School. The application is available online. Create an account to begin the process. Once the fee is paid, the application is processed and the profile is available to the Department the next business day.

Step 6: Manage your application

You may track the progress of your application, verify the receipt of your application materials, and view the Department's admissions decision online.

Visit graduate admissions for more information about UNC Graduate School.
