Assistant professor Wizdom Powell Hammond, PhD is spending the year in Washington, DC as a 2011-2012 White House Fellow.
Professor Eugenia (Geni) Eng, DrPH was presented with the 2011 Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH)/Pfizer Faculty Award
for Excellence in Academic Public Health Practice during the ASPH reception that was held during the 2011 American Public Health Association's Annual Meeting and Conference in Washington, D.C. The award recognizes
faculty members from accredited ASPH-member schools whose careers have
advanced and integrated scholarly public health practice through
research, teaching and service.

![]() Kurt Ribisl, PhD As a tobacco prevention and control researcher, he also discusses the current and potential impact of internet cigarette sales in a video spot sponsored by The Substance Abuse Policy Research Program. Dr. Ribisl has conducted research that investigated the role of the internet
vendors in providing underage teenagers with access to low cost
cigarettes. His work has revealed that internet cigarette sales pose a
threat to public health efforts that have helped reduce smoking rates in
the United States, especially among underage smokers.
Professor and Chair Jo Anne Earp, ScD, led the highly effective NC Breast Cancer Screening Project for over two decades. It has now been recognized as a national model by the National Cancer Institute. more
