Health Behavior and Health Education offer joint degrees?
Answer: Yes,
a dual degree program is offered jointly by our Department and the Department
of City and Regional Planning. MPH/MRP
graduates apply behavioral and social science methods to problems of public
health and government and to the interdisciplinary union of engineering and
design with behavioral and social sciences.

is the required minimum score on the GRE?
Answer: The
Graduate School guidelines recommend a minimum of
50% on the verbal and quantitative. The
Department has an average combined GRE score of approximately 1200.

Behavior and Health Education is one of seven departments in the School
of Public Health. The Department focuses on health-related
social and behavioral change, ranging from the levels of social policy
to those
of community, family, and individual.

it possible to take classes in other departments or schools?
Answer: Yes. For no additional tuition fee, you can take
any classes at UNC, but only graduate level classes count toward your MPH.

Question: Can
doctoral students be exempt from any of the first-year classes?
Answer: If
you have experience in theory or research, exemption exams are available for
HBHE 130 and 250. Contact the professors
teaching the courses for details.

Question: Can
doctoral students receive credit for previous master’s level coursework?
Answer: Yes
and transfer credit can count toward program requirements. During your first “End of Year Review” you
can begin the process of transferring credits.
You need the course syllabi from the master’s level classes that you
took.
