Degree Requirement

No specific degree level is required for admission into the Community Preparedness and Disaster Management Certificate Program.


Required Application Materials

All applicants to the Community Preparedness and Disaster Management Certificate Program must submit the following:

  1. Current Resume
  2. Statement of Purpose – indicating your reasons for applying and how you expect this program to contribute to your career or professional development
  3. Non-refundable application fee of $75
  4. Certificate Program Application - Apply online (if you have trouble with the online application, contact Kim Sieler at 919-966-7364 or krsieler@email.unc.edu)

VERY IMPORTANT: Your application will NOT be processed until the application fee is received. Please send in your application fee at the same time as you submit your application.

Residency
All applicants who claim to be legal residents of North Carolina for tuition purposes must file a residency status form with their application. 

For more information about residency, see the Registrar's Residency information at http://regweb.unc.edu/residency/index.php.

Short Form
Complete the Short Form if you have lived in NC for three years or more: http://gradschool.unc.edu/pdf/residency/residency_short_form.pdf.

Complete the Long Form if you have lived in the state of North Carolina fewer than three years by the first day of classes of the term for which you are applying: http://gradschool.unc.edu/pdf/residency/residency_long_form.pdf.

Once you have submitted a residency form for the program, you will not have to submit another one unless you do not take a course in the fall or spring semester or unless your residency information changes.
