The Health Policy and Management department at the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill offers six dual degree programs.
Under these programs students simultaneously pursue two specified study
programs. PLEASE NOTE: These programs are limited to students accepted by the
relevant cooperating program at Chapel Hill or Duke University.

Admission requirements
In addition to the general University admission
requirements, departmental admissions requirements include:
- Must have an undergraduate degree with a Grade Point
Average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher (4.0 grading scale)
- GRE or GMAT score in the top 50th percentile are
required. (Scores must not be more than five years old and students with a
doctoral-level degree from a U.S. or Canadian university are exempt.)
- Relevant work experience is considered in the
admissions process.
- Applicants are advised to prepare in microeconomics,
accounting and statistics.
- International applicants are required to submit a
Financial Certificate.
- MPH applicants are required to hold a graduate or
professional doctoral degree in law, social sciences, behavioral sciences or a
healthcare profession.
- An on-campus personal interview is required for all MHA
and MSPH applicants.

- UNC Graduate School Deadline
- Though HPM makes admissions decisions, some financial
awards are given through the Graduate School. For full consideration for these
awards, the deadline is December 1.
- HPM Deadlines
- All applications received by January 1 will be reviewed
by the admissions committee. We must receive all materials by this deadline. We
urge you to apply by December 1.
- Decision Dates
- Most decisions are made between February 15 and March
15. The Graduate School will mail the official decision letter no later than
April 1.
- Terms For Which Applications Are Accepted
- Fall admission only. Admission for other
semesters will be considered only in unusual circumstances and after
consultation with the department.
- Financial Aid Information
- Applications with all required materials received by
January 1 will receive full consideration for Graduate School fellowships.
Applications received after that date will be considered as funds remain
available.

assistance, guidance and awards for financing your education as well.

Step 5: Complete an Application
Applications are processed centrally through the UNC
Graduate School. The application is available online. Create an account
to begin the process. Once the application fee is paid, the application is
processed and the profile is available to HPM the next business day.
Step 6: Manage Your Application
You may track the progress of your application, verify
the receipt of your application materials and view the Department's admissions
decision online.

A current e-mail address is a required field on the
application since all correspondence is conducted by e-mail. The following
items are required to complete your application.
Materials for the Graduate School
Mail the following items to the Graduate School, The
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Bynum Hall, CB 4010, Chapel Hill,
NC 27599-4010:
Mail one official transcript from each institution where
you studied after high school bearing the signature of the registrar and the
seal of the institution.
- An official transcript from each institution is always
required.
- A transcript is needed even if credits earned at one
institution appear on another institution's transcript as credits transferred.
- International applicants must also submit a certified
English translation of transcripts not issued in English.
Send recent GRE (past 5 years) or TOEFL (past 2 years)
scores from the Educational Testing Service website to the Graduate
School. NOTE: GRE institution code is #5816. GMAT institution code is
#D40-HL-72. For more information please visit the Graduate School

To quality for some forms of financial aid, complete your
FAFSA online.
- Supplemental Materials/Other Requirements
To claim NC residency for tuition purposes, complete the
North Carolina Residency Application.
