With great sadness, The Department of Maternal and Child Health announces the death of a member of the MCH family -- one of our students, Edem Effiong. Edem received her MPH in MCH on August  9, 2006, three days before she passed away at UNC Hospitals after a brave battle with leukemia for over a year. The memorial service for Edem took place at noon on Wednesday, August 16 at Trinity Community Church in Durham . In addition, Edem's brothers - Archie and Eyo - received visitors to celebrate Edem's life the evening of Tuesday, August 15 from 6:00-8:00.
Edem touched our lives in ways that will serve as a living memory. Nonetheless, we will miss her greatly.
