• We welcomed one of our largest master's degree classes ever - 42 new students including physicians from Libya, Afghanistan, Tanzania and Taiwan.
• We continued to develop a new online master's degree program and our popular online certificate program;
• We developed a new course on racial and ethnic disparities;
• We collaborated with The Lancet, the world's leading global health journal, to create a special theme issue on population and family planning that will be launched in 2012; and
• We continued, as a WHO Collaborating Center, to provide support to WHO for the Secretary General's Global Strategy on Women's and Children's Health.

The Department of Maternal and Child Health may be the smallest in the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, but our alumni and friends have the biggest hearts! Your gift to our Annual Fund will help us with three development priorities:

• Financial aid for students in need; 
• Travel support, particularly for students who cannot afford expenses related to practica and attendance at professional meetings;and
• Discretionary funds to respond to strategic opportunities.
