Overview

At the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill we have four MCHB/HRSA-funded training programs—Maternal and Child Health , Nutrition, Social Work and Leadership in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) at the CDL.  Since 2000, these programs have been collaborating on shared interests in leadership development and achievement of other training goals.

Consortium activities include:

  • Sponsorship of a year long intensive MCH leadership training program for interdisciplinary fellows
  • Monthly meetings amongst the faculty/staff to discuss MCH leadership teaching and research issues of mutual interest
  • Opportunities for ongoing trainee, faculty/staff, Title V interaction in joint initiatives
  • Serve as a catalyst and coordinating body for increasing family participation and cultural competence within our UNC MCH training programs and our intensive leadership model
  • Foster a shared understanding of maternal and child health, anchored in a public health, population-based perspective

The UNC Consortium works in partnership with the Maternal and Child Health Bureau, its National MCH Training Network, and state and local Title V programs, such as the North Carolina Division of Public Health, to train the next generation of leaders and to better serve the MCH population.

Supporting the MCH leaders of today, preparing the MCH leaders of tomorrow.
