Community Guide

The Guide to Community Preventive Services, also known as the Community Guide, is a free resource from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to help people choose programs and policies to improve health and prevent disease in communities.

Based on a scientific systematic review process, the guide answers questions critical to almost anyone interested in community health and well-being, such as:

  • Which program and policy interventions have been proven effective?
  • Are there effective interventions that are right for my community?
  • What might effective interventions cost; what is the likely return on investment?

Recommendations and findings about what works to improve public health are described for topics including cancer, HIV/AIDS, nutrition, obesity, tobacco, vaccines and a dozen other topics.
