| Core Certificate: Who Should Apply? |
- Those wishing to pursue an MPH and expecting to use
some these credits towards that goal.
- Those who work in public health, but who have never had
any formal public health education.
- Those in health or social service related professions who
may not need a full MPH, but wish to enhance their professional knowledge
of core public health concepts.
Note: Employers, state and local health
departments, HMOs and other healthcare providers are encouraged to enroll as
cohorts and in groups to enhance the educational experience.
Prerequisites (effective Oct. 1, 2007)
- Bachelors degree
- Math competency (B in a college level algebra course)
Check out your Algebra Skills by taking this review. These are basic
skills that we consider necessary to be able to easily handle the BIOS,
EPID and ENVR courses. Check your answers with this answer key.
- Excellent English writing skills (must be able to make and support an argument)
- Three years education and/or experience in a
health or social science related field-includes volunteer experience
- Complete statement of purpose (see example)
