Please complete the following tasks
prior to the beginning of class. These steps are required for your
complete
participation in this program.
1. Create an ONYEN (ATN User ID) *It takes approximately 1 week before you can create your ONYEN. Please continue trying until you are able to create this. The School of Public
Health (SPH) online courses are delivered through a software program that
requires that each student have an ATN User ID, also referred to as an ISIS login. The campus
registration database uses ATN User IDs (ONYENS) and inputs those students who
have registered for a particular course into the course's database. The campus
registration database doesn't track other email systems; therefore each of you must
have an ATN User ID in order to access your courses. You may still use your
preferred email account for all communication (including course listservs) but
for the purposes of logging into the courses you must use your ATN User ID and
password. Notes:
The instructors have asked that the e-mail accounts not be forwarded to Yahoo accounts if possible. There have been problems with messages getting lost and in- boxes rejecting messages because the mail box is over quota. If you must use a Yahoo account, please make sure to always keep your in-box clean so that messages are not returned. The instructors and TAs cannot keep up with the returned messages and will not resend the message out. Be sure you have the required and recommended hardware and software programs for your computer system.
Download BrowserNote: If you are using a computer at work, you should check with your system's administrator before you download Mozilla. WebCT requires that you have a browser that supports Javascript-based applications. We recommend the following. DO NOT disable scripting or else you will not be able to take the courses
Download Plug-insNote: If you are using a computer at work, you should check with your system's administrator before you download any plug-ins.
3. Aquaint yourself with Blackboard All course work will be
done on Blackboard. We will host 2 conference calls prior to classes beginning to learn how to navigate through the system. PLEASE
NOTE: YOUR COURSES WILL NOT SHOW UP ON BLACKBOARD UNTIL THE DAY
CLASSES BEGIN. You can order your text books from the Health Affairs Bookstore either by phone at (919) 966-2208 or online. Of course, if you live close enough, you can come to campus to buy them. To order books online your ONYEN (User ID) will need to be active. The textbooks and course packs are usually not available to order online until the month that the course begins. All course materials for the Certificate program are under section number 960. You may also be able to find used textbooks at: 5. Review program FAQs and policies
If you need technical support or have content or program-related questions, there are a number of places to request help. When reporting technical problems to the ATN Help Desk or course-specific email addresses, please be as specific as possible about the problem you are experiencing.
