Field Epidemiology Certificate: To do list Print

Please complete the following tasks prior to the beginning of class. These steps are required for your complete participation in this program.

It is important to register as soon as possible, so you can create your ONYEN (UNC user id) which is needed to log on to the courses via Blackboard and to order your books and course packs from the Health Affairs bookstore. It takes about 1-2 weeks to be able to create your ONYEN after you have confirmed your acceptance.

1. Create an ONYEN (ATN User ID)

*It takes approximately 1 week before you can create your ONYEN. Please continue trying until you are able to create this.

The School of Public Health (SPH) online courses are delivered through a software program that requires that each student have an ATN User ID, also referred to as an ISIS login.  The campus registration database uses ATN User IDs (ONYENS) and inputs those students who have registered for a particular course into the course's database. The campus registration database doesn't track other email systems; therefore each of you must have an ATN User ID in order to access your courses. You may still use your preferred email account for all communication (including course listservs) but for the purposes of logging into the courses you must use your ATN User ID and password.

ONYEN passwords will be on a 90-day expiration cycle. In other words, users will have to change their ONYEN passwords at least every 90 days. Users will be notified in advance, via email, when their passwords are about to expire. Please remember to change your login password before it expires. This is particularly important if you do not take a summer course. Failure to do so will result in difficulties logging in which will put you behind in your next course. Please remember that it is your responsibility to ensure that you are ready and able to login by the first day of classes. Click here with questions about how to change your password.

Notes:

  • If you don't create an ATN User ID, you will not be able to access your online course(s) by logging into Blackboard. Your courses will not show up on blackboard until the day classes begin.
  • Please remember to write down your ATN User ID and keep it in a safe place and memorize your password (do not write your password down).
  • It takes a few days for your account to become active, so you should request a User ID as soon as you receive your PID number. Thus you should register as soon as possible if you haven't yet.
Forward your e-mail account to receive your e-mail messages from the instructors-Required

The instructors have asked that the e-mail accounts not be forwarded to Yahoo accounts if possible. There have been problems with messages getting lost and in- boxes rejecting messages because the mail box is over quota. If you must use a Yahoo account, please make sure to always keep your in-box clean so that messages are not returned. The instructors and TAs cannot keep up with the returned messages and will not resend the message out.

You can order your text books from the Health Affairs Bookstore either by phone at (919) 966-2208 or online. Of course, if you live close enough, you can come to campus to buy them. To order books online your ONYEN (User ID) will need to be active. The textbooks and course packs are usually not available to order online until the month that the course begins.
