This short online module provides an overview of public health in NC and was developed to be used as a component of a new- or recently-hired employee orientation for health departments.
Public health nutritionists and other dietetic professionals have an
important impact on the health of future generations. The goal of this
course is to provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to improve
the nutritional health of the pediatric population. To that end, this
course will guide you through the nutrition care process with an
emphasis in nutrition assessment that is based on the needs of
individual clients and their families.
This short online course was designed to explore issues associated with ethics in public health, such as the differences between medical ethics and public health ethics, the values and beliefs inherent to a public health perspective, and how public health's legal powers relate to public health ethics.

This broadcast series, produced by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, features community health case studies on timely public health topics reviewed by a panel of experts. The free one-hour programs air live via satellite and webcast three or four times a year. Archived versions are available for viewing online and CDs are available for purchase.
The purpose of this six-week online course is to prepare public health nurses in NC to implement a comprehensive STD screening and management program to reach patients who are at high risk for STDs in their local communities. The major emphasis is implementation of treatment protocols under standing orders. The online course is followed by a six-month STD clinical practicum with a preceptor at the local health department.

Epidemiology Online
Epidemiology Online is a product of the education and training program of ERIC in Durham, NC and the Health Care Epidemiology Program in the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health's Department of Epidemiology. It is a series of one and two-hour short Web-based courses in epidemiology. These courses cover a variety of topics. Participants who successfully complete a course can print a personalized certificate for their records.
