OCE and the program partners below design hundreds of educational programs that reach thousands of people annually. Continuing Education Advisory CommitteesIn an effort to enhance both needs assessment and the School's relationship
to health and human service professionals, a number of committees have been
established over the years to involve representatives from selected target
groups in scheduling, planning, presenting and evaluating certain courses. These include:
North Carolina Health Director's AssociationThe office also works with the North Carolina Health Directors Association's education committee to plan an annual conference. Other regular but less formal networking and needs assessment working arrangements include: the education committee of the North Carolina Management Support Supervisors Association, the executive committee of the North Carolina Public Health Association, the education committee of the North Carolina Public Health Social Work Steering Committee, and the committee for the annual statewide nutrition conference. Centers for Disease Control and PreventionThe Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) support several Institute programs through funding and professional guidance, including Public Health Grand Rounds. Area Health Education CentersNorth Carolina's Area Health Education Centers around the state collaborate with the Institute's Office of Continuing Education on a variety of topical trainings. NC Division of Public HealthThe Division of Public Health with North Carolina's Department of Health and Human Services partners with the Office of Continuing Education, Management Academy for Public Health, North Carolina Center for Public Health Preparedness, the Southeast Public Health Training Center and the North Carolina Center for Genomics and Public Health, mainly to support participation in educational events. NC Division of Environmental HealthThe Division of Environmental Health, together with the NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources, partners with the Office of Continuing Education particularly in the accreditation, authorization and continued provision of required accredited training for local and state environmental health specialists. NC Board of Sanitarian ExaminersThe governor-appointed Board of Sanitarian Examiners, a professional registration and accreditation board for all environmental health specialists practicing in North Carolina's state and local health departments, partners with NCIPH and our NC EH State of Practice Committee as their primary provider of continuing professional education and workforce development.
