Nutritional Biochemistry Spotlights ![]() Dr. Drobna Dr. Drobna's current research interests are focused on the role of nutrition in prevention of cancer, specifically cancer associated with prenatal exposures to occupational or environmental carcinogens. ![]() Dr. Makowski Liza Makowski, Ph.D. has joined the faculty in the Division of Biochemistry as of January 1, 2010. The Makowski Lab studies metabolism and inflammation of white blood cells called macrophages and how that relates to obesity and cancer. ![]() Dr. Sheridan UNC nutrition research assistant professor Dr. Patricia Sheridan combines neuroscience and nutrition to study how
different foods affect the way the brain functions as we age.

![]() Dr. He Nutrition Intervention and Policy Spotlights ![]() Amanda Holliday Amanda Holliday, MS, RD, LDN, clinical assistant professor of nutrition, has been named Outstanding Dietetic Educator by the Durham-Chapel Hill Dietetic Association and the North Carolina Dietetic Association. Congratulations Amanda! ![]() Dr. Samuel-Hodge Dr. Carmen Sameul-Hodge's research focus is on behavioral weight loss interventions, weight loss maintenance, clinical and community-based diabetes self-management training interventions among African Americans with type 2 diabetes, and lifestyle interventions using peer counselors (community and church diabetes advisors). |
