At UNC Public Health is Global Health!

Welcome to the website for the Office of Global Health in the School of Public Health
at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Students from the School of Public Health travel the globe, bringing back photos that inspire us all to make a difference. Photographs on this page were provided by Elena Lebetkin, Isabelle Michaud, Jeanette Lager, Chris Deery and Mike Park.

What is Global Health?
Global Health may be defined as "health problems that transcend national boundaries, that may be influenced by circumstances or experiences in other countries, and that are best addressed by cooperative actions, and solutions; whether they occur in developing countries, countries in advanced transition, or industrialized countries." Research interests of some of the faculty and students in the UNC School of Public Health include infectious diseases, immigrant health, water resource planning, bioethics, infant nutrition, reproductive health, domestic violence, and obesity.
