Diversity within the School better prepares our students for the diverse world that awaits them -- a world that needs culturally competent people to serve as its leaders.

When we embrace the socioeconomic, physical, cultural, racial, sexual, and ethnic differences of our students, faculty, and staff, we enrich the quality of coursework, classroom discussions, research, and practice in the School and beyond.

The School's approach to diversity permeates all student activities, training and support. Our Diversity pages highlight outreach and recruitment activities and opportunities specifically aimed at students with diverse backgrounds or on health disparities.

Current students shared advice and their experiences with incoming students during a diversity orientation, held annually in August.

Equal opportunity and non-discrimination policies

The School does not discriminate in its offering access to educational programs and activities on the basis of race, color, gender, age, national origin, religion, creed, disability, veteran's status, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. For more information about the university's policies, which have been adopted by the School, please refer to UNC's website.
