Dean Rimer welcomes the Chancellor-Elect

The School of Public Health congratulates Dr. Holden Thorp, elected by the UNC Board of Governors on Thursday, May 8, 2008, as the tenth chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I invite you to read his outstanding acceptance speech online.  Chancellor-Elect Thorp spoke to the important tasks of this University in creating knowledge, providing educational opportunities and solving the greatest challenges of our time. Many of these challenges are squarely in our domain. As we welcome Holden Thorp to his new position, we also salute and thank Chancellor James Moeser and Susan Moeser. They have been wonderfully effective supporters of our School, this University and the state of North Carolina.   I hope to see many of you and your families at our Commencement on Saturday!
