Our School of Public Health was ranked top public school of public health by U.S. News & World Report in 2007), and it tied with Harvard for second place overall. 

Schools of public health are ranked by U.S. News & World Report about every three years.  The UNC School of Public Health has been ranked in the top three ever since the graduate school rankings began.

Other rankings

  • The Department of Health Policy and Management’s executive master’s program for physician-executives has been ranked best overall by Modern Healthcare magazine (2007) for the second year in a row.

  • The Department of Health Policy and Management was ranked 3rd best in healthcare management master's programs by U.S. News’ annual graduate school rankings (2008 edition, ranked in 2007).

  • The public health nursing program offered by the Public Health Leadership Program was ranked 4th best for community/public health clinical nursing by U.S. News’ annual graduate school rankings (2008 edition, ranked in 2007).
  • The Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering was tied for 8th, in the engineering category, for environmental/environmental health by the U.S. News and World Report’s “America’s Best Graduate Schools” (2008 edition, ranked in 2007).
  • The Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering was ranked in the top ten for its environmental policy and management programs by the U.S. News and World Report’s “America’s Best Graduate Schools” (2008).

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill consistently ranks among the top public universities.
