Our leadership

Dean Barbara K. Rimer leads the UNC School of Public Health with the support and assistance of a talented, dedicated and diverse group of leaders. Department chairs provide oversight for and management of day-to-day operations in each of our eight academic departments. The Dean's Office provides support for the academic, research and service activities of the School. The Dean’s Office also manages the School’s institutional relations with the University, with other UNC health affairs schools, with Centers and Institutes on campus and beyond, and with other universities nationwide and around the world. The School of Public Health Advisory Council provides strategic input to the School’s leadership.  The Board of Directors of the Public Health Foundation provides fiduciary oversight to the assets of the nonprofit foundation that manages the School’s charitable gifts. The Dean's Council, comprising department chairs, deans and directors from throughout the School, provides oversight and management of day-to-day operations such as administration, academics, research, service, communications, technology and external affairs.
