As the oldest state university
in America, but also one
that pursues the most modern and sophisticated technologies in its programs,
the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
is a marriage of history and innovation.
The campus of UNC beautifully displays this wise and compelling relationship
of old and new.
Much of campus is strewn
with winding brick pathways, landscaped by nature and stone memorials, and
shaded by towering oak trees that have been standing even longer than the
historic buildings and landmarks around them.
Only steps away, however, are massive, modern buildings, complete with
helicopter docks, that house some of the world's most cutting-edge cancer
research.
