Dr. Peggye Dilworth-Anderson

The society, the country's leading scientific organization in aging, aims to promote the scientific study of aging, encourage exchanges among researchers and practitioners from various disciplines related to gerontology, and foster the use of gerontological research in forming public policy.

Dilworth-Anderson is also associate director for aging and diversity in the University of North Carolina Institute on Aging and is director of the institute's Center for Aging and Diversity.

Dilworth-Anderson's research and publications include topics on ethnic minority families, with an emphasis upon older African-Americans. Her research interests include aging, dementia, family caregiving and health disparities.

In 2005, she served on the White House Conference on Aging advisory committee and has been elected to previous leadership roles in the Gerontological Society and in the Alzheimer's Association. She currently holds an appointment on the National Advisory Council on Aging, which advises the National Institute on Aging, part of the National Institutes of Health.
