Fall 2008

Student Information Day - August 28, 11:30-1:30, MHRC Atrium
This event allows students to meet with  representatives from on and off campus service organizations associated with public health.   This is a great way for students to increase their student involvement, leadership, and networking contacts. Information about this year's participants will be posted on eRecruiting.

Departmental Workshops - first three weeks of September, dates and locations TBA
Upcoming departmental sessions will be announced through eRecruiting and through departmental emails.  Sessions will cover an overview of career services for UNC SPH students, an introduction to the new online career management system, eRecruiting, and special departmental resources for your job or internship search.

Finding Funding for International Internships - October 8, 11:30-1:00, Rosenau 201A
A hands-on workshop to learn about online funding resources for interning abroad.  Presented by Susan Gramling from the GrantSource Library.

Resume Rescue - October 30-31, 11:30-1:30, MHRC Atrium
Have your resumes and cover letters critiqued by public health professionals on a walk-in basis. Watch this space for more details on the alumni and professionals who will be attending.

Etiquette Dinner - November 6 (date tentative), 5:30-8:00, Carolina Club
This event is co-hosted by the School of Public Health Office of Student Affairs (OSA) and the Healthcare Executives Student Association (HESA).  Learn the basics of business etiquette from Linda Conklin, Manager of Alumni Career Services while enjoying a three course meal.

Interviewing Skills - November 7, 12:00-1:00, MHRC 3005
Learn how to sell your skills and experiences in this workshop. Participants will have the chance to practice answering questions and get more information on what to expect in the interview.

How to Make Friends and Influence People:  The Art of Networking - November 14, 12:00-1:00, MHRC 3005
Networking is often the best method for finding jobs and internships.  This workshop will provide tips for developing and nurturing your professional network.

2009 Annual Internship and Career Fair - February 5, 12-3, MHRC Atrium

Professional financial managers will provide advice on financial planning for the new professional.
