North Carolina residency for tuition purposes

If you would like to be considered a North Carolina resident for tuition purposes, you must complete one or more forms that will provide the university with the information needed to evaluation your residency status.

Complete instructions on establishing residency in the state of North Carolina are available here. You are also encouraged to contact the student services manager in your department for further information.

Basic guidelines

If you have lived in the state of North Carolina for three years or longer by the first day of classes of the term for which you are applying, complete the short residency form.

If you have lived in the state of North Carolina fewer than three years by the first day of classes of the term for which you are applying, complete the long residency form.
