Undergraduate Programs

Current UNC students are eligible to apply to a Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH) degree program after completion of specific BSPH program prerequisites and most, if not all, General College requirements. For SPH undergraduate admissions requirements, go to the following departments for more information.

Biostatistics

Environmental Sciences and Engineering
Health Policy and Administration
Nutrition

Students are eligible after completing 52-60 credit hours of course work or by examination/advanced placement credit. UNC students typically apply to the School of Public Health in the second semester of their sophomore year of study for fall admission the following academic year.

Transfer students to UNC must submit two (2) applications to be considered for admission to a Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH) program in the School of Public Health - one application to the UNC Office of Undergraduate Admissions and a supplemental application to the School of Public Health. Through the use of the online application process, both applications can be completed and submitted simultaneously. Transfer students must be eligible for admission into UNC as determined by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, before the School of Public Health can render an admission decision. Consequently, it is important for transfer applicants to remain in close contact with the UNC Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the appropriate academic program office in the School of Public Health (i.e., Biostatistics, Environmental Sciences and Engineering, Health Policy and Administration, or Nutrition) to monitor the status of both applications. Upon confirmation from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions that a transfer applicant is eligible for admission into the University, the appropriate admissions committee(s) in the School of Public Health will review the completed BSPH application to determine eligibility for admission.
