Melissa Roche, a PhD Candidate in Health Behavior and Health
Education, conducted a Book Drive for the Community Health Department
of Moshi, Tanzania.
Melissa Roche has added her name
to the long list of UNC School of Public Health students who are making a world
of difference. Melissa, with the help of the Student Global Health Committee,
conducted a textbook drive for the community health department at Kilimanjaro
Christian Medical Centre (KCMC) in Moshi, Tanzania.
Melissa and her committee members' main focus was
to gather public health textbooks to help educate the students and citizens in
Moshi. Additionally, Melissa is currently helping KCMC register for a World
Health Organization service that grants free access to full-text medical and
public health journals to students and academic centers in low-income
countries. Melissa credits all of the individuals who
donated textbooks as well as the faculty and staff at the School of Public
Health and the Health Sciences Library for her success with the KCMC
project.
