School-wide
AcademyHealth
AcademyHealth's mission is to establish a student organization associated with AcademyHealth
to promote and facilitate the professional development of students interested
in all aspects of health services research and health policy. Any student may
join.
Minority Student Caucus
The Minority Student Caucus consists of all students of color in the School who
wish to join. The Caucus advocates for addressing issues of particular concern
to students of color in the School (e.g., diversity among faculty and students)
and promotes research and programs aimed at addressing public health issues
that particularly affect people of color (e.g. health disparities).
Student Global Health Committee
The Student Global Health Committee is an organization committed to creating
awareness of international health issues among the UNC community through
education, advocacy, and service.
SPH Student Government
SPH-SG disseminates information, supports student-initiated projects, and
represents the concerns of public health students to the faculty, staff and the
university community.

Department-based
Biostatistics Student Organization (BSA)
The Biostatistics Student Organization (BSA)
is a student run organization for all undergraduate and graduate
students in the Department of Biostatistics in the School of Public
Health at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. We seek
to encourage interaction outside of the classroom through volunteer,
social and educational activities and create a stronger community
within the Biostatistics Department and the School of Public Health.
Environmental Sciences and Engineering
Student Organization (ENVRSO)
The purpose of ENVRSO is to provide a forum for the diverse ENVR student body
where we can discuss and affect change within the department and interact
socially and professionally with other students. Any ENVR student can be a
member of this organization.
Epidemiology Student
Organization (ESO)
The Epidemiology Student
Organization (ESO) is concerned with student life in the department. The
objectives of ESO are to provide academic support, social support, and
community involvement. Some of our activities include: 1) sponsoring an annual panel discussion on a topic of interest, 2) planning social events, 3) purchasing a subscription to the American Journal of Epidemiology, and 4) maintaining student computers and student room. Nutrition Coalition
Nutrition Coalition is a student organization at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill which has been founded for the purpose of promoting healthy lifestyles in the community, UNC campus, and the School of Public Health through volunteer, social, and educational activities. The Coalition will bring about an exchange of knowledge, thereby uniting students and the surrounding community. Our objectives will be carried out through 4 volunteer-based committees.

UNC-wide (health-related)
Engineers without Borders
Engineers without
Borders (EWB) UNC-CH Chapter is a student organization that has been founded for
the purpose of facilitating UNC student involvement in international
engineering and health projects organized or approved by Engineers Without Borders-USA. Our
chapter is involved with construction and design work, consulting,
teaching, surveying, or other tasks as determined by project needs. We raise funds to
support projects, facilitate collaboration between student groups and
local engineers and other universities on development projects, and
host speakers and seminars relevant to the role of the engineer in
development work abroad.
Graduate
and Professional Student Federation (GPSF)
The GPSF advocates for
improved resources for graduate and professional students; promotes active
participation in university, local, state, national, and international issues;
and collaborates with university administration faculty, staff, and undergraduate
students to create policies that reflect the interests of all graduate and
professional students.
Health Science LGBTQ Alliance
The Health Sciences LGBTQ
Alliance is an association of students, faculty, and staff from the schools of
the health sciences (Dentistry,
Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, and Social Work) working to promote
the health and well-being of people in LGBTQ communities. The
Alliance works to
increase the training and exposure of Health Sciences students to the concerns
of LGBTQ people by sponsoring speakers, panels, and conferences at the schools
of the health sciences and UNC-Chapel Hill.
Other student activities and organizations at UNC
Carolina has more than 627 student co-curricular
organizations that have been extended official University recognition. These
organizations plan activities, programs, and services that address a wide span
of interests.
